VRcollab is compatible to HTC VIVE Series, HTC Cosmos, Oculus Rift Series and the Windows Mixed Reality (MR) Series. The hardware for controllers may be different in form but the general principles of VR control stay the same in VRcollab.

General Principles

Right VR controller is similar to a mouse:

  • Right Laser is similar to mouse cursor
  • Right Trigger is similar to mouse left click
  • Select: Point right laser on object / icon, click right trigger once
  • Drag & Scroll: Point right laser to slider / list, hold right trigger and move right hand
  • Moving VR Pop-up: Point Right laser at top bar, hold trigger, move right hand

HTC VIVE Controllers

HTC VIVE CE and HTC VIVE PRO use similar controllers, the following are the general principles of using the HTC VIVE Controllers in VRcollab:

Note that the controllers come in a pair and are similar; 1 Left Side and 1 Right Side:

  • Right ( 6 ) - A virtual laser shoots out the top of the right controller in the software, acts as a 3D pointer, similar to a mouse cursor.
  • Right ( 7 ) - Allows for the selection of objects, tools, moving sliders and scrolling menus, similar to a mouse left click, use together with the laser to select.
  • Right ( 2 ) - Press top half of circle to fly forward relative to head position, and vice versa
  • Right ( 3 ) - Hold to Power on / off
  • Right ( 3 ) - Press once to go to SteamVR program, press again to return to VRcollab software
  • Right ( 1 ) - Toggle tool tips
  • Left Controller - Acts as static Menu for tool selection etc.
  • Left ( 1 ) - Open overlay menu
  • Left ( 7 ) - Voice chat

Oculus Rift Controllers

Oculus Rift and Oculus Rift S use similar controllers, the following are the general principles of using the Oculus Rift Controllers in VRcollab:

Note that the controllers come in a pair and are slightly different; 1 Left Side (X,Y Buttons) and 1 Right Side (A,B Buttons):

  • Right ( Above Trigger ) - A virtual laser shoots out the top of the right controller in the software, acts as a 3D pointer, similar to a mouse cursor.
  • Right ( Trigger ) - Allows for the selection of objects, tools, moving sliders and scrolling menus, similar to a mouse left click, use together with the laser to select.
  • Right ( Thumbstick ) - Move Thumbstick in any direction, user will move in respective direction relative to head positioning
  • Right ( Reserved ) - Hold to Power on / off
  • Right ( A ) - Toggle tool tips
  • Left ( X ) - Open overlay menu
  • Left ( Trigger ) - Voice chat

Windows Mixed Reality (MR) controllers

Windows Mixed Reality (MR) series all use similar controllers, only difference is in the design of the Head Mounted Display (HMD), Windows Mixed Reality Series are manufactured by (Dell, HP, Lenovo, Acer, Samsung).

The following are the general principles for using Windows MR Controllers in VRcollab:

Note that the controllers come in a pair and are slightly different; 1 Left Side (Left thumbstick towards the Right) and 1 Right Side (Right thumbstick towards the Left):
